Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteer work in the community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. On the football field, he competed with three of his siblings for Oklahoma. The trio made All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by Outland, Lombardi and the Outland Awards. Oklahoma has won two National Championships throughout the three years he was a starter. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975. He was also named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his degree in education. Fourth Service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week in volunteer projects. In Tampa He played with the Buccaneers over nine years and was an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. In 1988 he was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of the country's the top 10 most promising young men. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into both the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
