Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She appears regularly in CNN's "New Day weekend' and HLN's 'Weekend Express', as as CNN International shows. She served as meteorologist for local stations at Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to she joined CNN. She's covered flooding, wildfires and hurricanes as well as the occurrence of blizzards. In 2019, she was nominated for the Emmy award for covering the hurricane Dorian within the Bahamas. In April 2011 she reported on the super-tornado outbreak which saw 350 tornadoes strike the Southeastern United States within four days. The worst of them took place on April 27th, 2011. Given her background in environmental science, she's also reported on volcanoes, earthquakes as well as other natural disasters as well as the stories of climate change. Chinchar has a bachelor's degree of Atmospheric Science, which she completed at The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
