Kelly Clarkson became the personification of the American Dream when she won the first season of American Idol. She made the idea that one could come no matter where you are, and then became a superstar which was something real that American viewers could cling to, and more importantly purchase. Her debut album, which she released in 2004, was an instant hit and she shifted to a different label, allowing her to exercise more control over her music , and her subsequent album became the most-sold album of any American Idol alum. As well as touring frequently and recording numerous Top Ten singles, releasing two multi-Platinum albums, appearing as a mentor on a variety of singing programs, as well as creating or co-writing the majority of her songs, she has also won several awards that are impressive. She received the prestigious four American Music Awards as well 12 Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. Her nominations and awards for major music awards total at 98 as of today.
